Definition: The previous country of citizenship of a naturalized U.S. citizen or of a person who derived U.S. citizenship.
Pronunciation: kun-tree of for-mer ul-ee-junss
Also Known As: Country of former citizenship
Examples: Mary was a citizen of England, and then she naturalized as a U.S. citizen. England does not allow dual citizenship and is now her former country of allegiance.
