Marriage Visa
Package:
A Do-it Yourself Kit for Obtaining US Residency for Alien Spouse
Guide Rating -
Pros
Very thorough: Everything you need in terms of forms and
information to prepare and send a basic petition and application for a new
U.S.-based foreign spouse. This includes lots of samples and explanations for
those who are still confused by complex INS instructions and terminology.
Comes in binders so that ever-changing INS information can quickly and
easily be updated by the publisher.
Relatively inexpensive and a major time saving alternative to doing
it in piece meal on your own. Good for those with a
straightforward case.
Cons
If you have complications or legal issues, this cannot serve as or
substitute for legal assistance.
These packages are timely. Because of ever-changing laws,
procedures and fees, it's a good idea to buy originals, not second hand copies,
and buy them only when you are ready to file, otherwise some of the information
may become obsolete.
The Bottom Line -
A good way to save yourself some time, money and frustration if you
have a straightforward marital case without legal issues.

"Who can file" In most cases a
citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. can file a petition to
establish the relationship of certain alien relatives (in this case a spouse)
who may wish to immigrate to the U.S. and obtain residence. Generally a petition
can be filed with the American Embassy or the Immigration and Naturalization
Service. (Remember that situations may vary depending on circumstances)."
Guide Review
Review from Jennifer and
Peter Wipf
Although we have seen these kits around on the Internet for quite some
time, we had only seen one of them personally, from someone who
purchased one. We decided it was high time we find out what they were
all about so we could inform those of you who enter our site and feel
utterly lost. The marriage visa kit from the American
Immigration Center does not substitute for an attorney, if that's
what you need. And since we don't know you personally, and aren't
attorneys or consultants hired by you, that's not something we can
determine. That said, we went through the entire kit, page by page, item
by item, looking for the questions and answers we had when we were first
married, and we found that it had excellent instructions and samples. As
far as we could see, it has all you need to file a complete spouse-based
I-130 and I-485 package. You may still have questions about following up
on your case, whether you can go on your honeymoon, or what to do if you
have legal issues, etc. This kit will enable you to file a simple,
uncomplicated case with relative ease, however. So for many, it will
prove very helpful and easy.
